The Theodore Edson Parker Foundation has established this fund in honor of a former Theodore Edson Parker Trustee, Tom Leggat, in recognition of his interest in the advancement of youth and his dedication to the betterment of Lowell. The purpose of the Fund is to provide awards to at least one young Lowellian, ages 17 – 21, to enable the selected candidate to partake in an experiential opportunity that may transform his or her outlook in life, encouraging him or her to make positive life-altering choices. The Leggat award may not be used for the purpose of conventional college scholarships
The fund was established to support the Mary Jo Leahey Band Camp at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
The primary purpose of the Fund is to secure the basic maintenance and beautification, as a supplement to city services, of Kittredge Park, Lowell, Massachusetts. Secondly, to provide for additional and complementary landscaping, beautification, recreational and cultural activities and programs that further enhance Kittredge Park for City residents
